The Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints will make their only appearance of the season this Friday, June 26th. Keegan's Tobacco Shop night will also feature 358 Modifieds, Street Stocks and Bandits. RAIN MOVES MOHAWK RACEWAY OPENER BACK TO FRIDAY JUNE 5

AKWESASNE, NY -- Scattered showers and periods of drizzle forced Mohawk Int. Raceway (MIR) officials to cancel Friday night, May 29th's racing program. The 2009 Grand Opening for MIR is now set for Friday, June 5th, as Adams Marina presents a full racing program featuring the Frenchie's Chevrolet Memorial Cup 35 for 358 Modifieds, along with a full racing program for Pro Stocks, Street Stocks and Bandits. Race time is set for 7:45 PM.

The new stadium lights are up, the new grandstands are in place, and the drivers are ready to stand on the throttle! It's been a long off-season...let's go racing!

MIR officials expect a strong field of cars in all four weekly divisions as everyone is eager to experience the All-New Mohawk Int. Raceway. Anticipation is high and race teams are ready to put on a show for their hometown fans.

The Memorial Cup has always been the "Big Spring Race" for MIR Modified teams
and over the nearly two decades that this event has been run, some of the top names in DIRT racing have claimed the checkered flag, including Barry Poitras, Roger Lalonde, Billy "The Kid" King, Randy Connors, Peter Mantha, Pierre Daganais, Danny Johnson, Joel Doiron, Tim Fuller, and Dave Heaslip. The Frenchie's Chevrolet Memorial Cup 35 will be the first of three races in the Frenchie's Chevrolet American Revolution mini-series, with the final two events set for Friday July 3rd and Friday September 4th.

Fans can also expect a strong turnout in the always competitive Pro Stock division, with several new teams joining the action this year, including 2008
Bandit Champion Claudia Tarbell and 2008 Semi-Pro Champion Harvey Arquette, Jr. They will be added to the strong roster of veteran drivers in this division which includes defending track champion Stephane LeBrun, Allan and PJ Peters, Ricky Thompson, Dave Papineau, Bill Woodward Jr. and many others, all looking to take home the checkered flag and the $400 first-place prize money.

Kick Off 2009 Season At Mohawk Int. Raceway

The excitement is building and the anticipation of what will be a memorable experience awaits race fans on Friday night May 29th at 7:45pm as "The Best Kept Secret On Dirt" the Mohawk Int. Raceway opens the doors for the 2009 racing season featuring a newly renovated racing facility.
The 2009 season gets underway in a big way with the start of the "American Revolution Series" sponsored by Frenchie's Chevrolet of Massena and the 19th running of the "Memorial Cup" for the DIRTcar 358 Modifieds. The Memorial Cup started in 1990 with twin 20s and has been "The Race" to win for most north country DIRTcar 358 Modified drivers over the years.
The coveted cup has seen such names as Barry Poitras, Roger Lalonde Billy "The Kid" King, Randy Connors, Peter Mantha, Pierre Daganais, Danny Johnson, Joel Doiron, Tim Fuller, and others including four time cup winner and Hall-Of-Famer Dave Heaslip all of whom have had their names engraved on this very special trophy.
This years race will kick off the "American Revolution Series" sponsored by 9th year cup sponsor and series sponsor Frenchie's Chevrolet of Massena.
