Mid-State To Provide Golf
Carts, Private Vehicles Require SDW Permits
Race
Teams Encouraged To Make Reservations Today As October Approaches
Weedsport,
NY September 15, 2008 By Tom Skibinski , DIRT Racing
NorthEast PR Director
Golf carts
continue to be made available at the New York State Fairgrounds and for
use during Super DIRT Week XXXVII through a working agreement reached
between Mid-State Golf Car and DIRTcar Racing. Hours of golf cart operation
will be from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m with a mandatory daily drop-off no later
than 6:00 pm. These times will be strictly enforced throughout the week.
Any golf cart running after 6 o'clock will be confiscated immediately
and can not be picked up at the compound until 6 p.m. on Sunday, the final
day of scheduled trackside activity.
The policy
in effect at the State Fairgrounds for the Oct. 7-12 event requires purchase
of a one-time $25 golf cart permit which is also good for the length of
a rental, whether for one day or the entire week. All drivers must be
21 years of age or older and possess a valid driver's license. Permits
will be available only in the Mid-State Golf Car reserve located in the
speedway infield toward the turn four side, where all golf cart parking
will be handled throughout the week.
For those individuals
not owning their own golf cart, Mid-State Golf Car will rent vehicles
for a daily fee of $55 (2-passenger) or $80 (4-passenger). Renters are
responsible for all damage done to their cart including engine and/or
governor tampering and sticking decals on the vehicle. For further information
or to make advance reservations, please contact Judy Watson at Mid-State
Golf Car (1-877-592-4653) during week days or e-mail
judy_watson@mid-stategolfcar.com any time day or evening.
New RACEceiver Ace
Required For DIRTcar NE Series Pit Stop Events
Weedsport,
NY August 25, 2008 - By Tom Skibinski , Advance Auto Parts Super
DIRTcar Series PR Director
A
handful of extra-distance events on the 2008 DIRTcar Racing NorthEast
circuit have been given the green light for teams to use two-way radios
in during the coming months.
In each Advance
Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series Grand Slam event for Big-Block
Modifieds and the 358-Modified Championship during Super DIRT Week at
the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse , two-way radios will be allowed.
If using two-way
communication, the use of a new RACEceiver Ace will
be required. The RACEceiver Ace is used in conjunction with a teams
two-way system that allows the driver to monitor the race director while
also remaining in communication with his/her crew via their own two-way
system.
The
new RACEceiver Ace also functions as a standard RACEceiver so it can replace
an exisiting RACEceiver device for weekly competition. Teams not using
two-way radios may continue to use the standard RACEceiver models without
penalty. RACEceiver Ace models are available for sale at $130 each through
DIRTcar during the week or at the track. The Advance Series trailer also
has a supply to rent at each event site.
Lebanon Valley
Speedway and Rolling Wheels Raceway Park host the initial 200s
to kick off the Advance Series Grand Slam in September with nationally
recognized events at the N.Y.S. Fairgrounds and Orange County Fair Speedway
comprising the final two shows in October.
Continuing
to rank among the most prestigious races in the country, the Rite Aid
200 at the Syracuse Mile on October 12, Eastern States 200 at Orange County
on October 19, Coors National 200 at Lebanon Valley on September 6 and
World Series Weekend BPG 200 at Rolling Wheels on September 27 are the
only 200-lap races listed on the annual tour.
The ITT Corporation/Goulds
Pumps "Salute To The Troops" 150-lap Mr. DIRTcar 358-Modified
Championship highlights action on Saturday, Oct. 11 of Super DIRT Week
XXXVII.

Super DIRT
Week XXXVII Bulletin: Two Changes In Store For 2008 Event
Weedsport,
NY August 22, 2008 - By Tom Skibinski , DIRTcar Racing NorthEast
PR Director
In 2008, Advance
Auto Parts Modified teams can register and practice up to two cars for
competition during Super DIRT Week, October 7-12, but only one draw and
one time trial per driver will be allowed. All cars entering the grounds
must pay an entry fee, including those designated for use as back-ups.
In addition,
a suitable helmet for head protection will be required for use by all
over-the-wall team members in both the Rite Aid 200 and the 358-Modified
Championship events. Any professional crew helmet approved by DIRTcar
officials will be allowed.
In order to
pass tech, a car must bear an official identification number. Teams are
urged to contact their chassis manufacturer to ensure that their chassis
is properly identified.
Cars going
through tech on Tuesday, Oct. 7 and Wednesday, Oct. 8 will have their
engines sealed by DIRTcar officials. The engine a driver uses to qualify
his car for the Rite Aid 200 is the engine to be used in the Rite Aid
200. Drivers forced to change engines must start at the back of the field.
No car shall
be allowed to go on the race track without first being inspected and sealed.
In the event a motor needs repairs in which the seal has to be broken,
the crew chief must first contact an official to verify the repair and
an official must be present for it to be re-sealed. Failure to do so will
result in placement at the rear of the field.
After Integra
Shocks Time Trials on Thursday, Oct. 9, the top-six time trialers plus
the Lebanon Valley 200 (7th starter) and Rolling Wheels 200 (8th) winners
will have their engine numbers recorded. They must use that engine for
their respective Triple 20 heat race and the Rite Aid 200 main event.
After the triple
20 qualifying races, the next 30 qualified cars will have their engines
recorded and must run that engine in the Rite Aid 200. All qualifiers
through Sundays Dig Safely New York Shootout (non-qualifiers race)
will also be required to use the engine they qualified.
For further
information, please contact Director of Technical Operations for DIRTcar
Racing NorthEast Bob Dini in his office at 845/358-5049 or by e-mail bdini@dirtcar.com.
Cory Reed, DIRTcar Racing NorthEast Director of Competition & Track
Sanctioning, is also available to answer questions and can be reached
at the Weedsport, New York office (315/834-6606).

The DIRTcar Futures For Super DIRT Week 08 Debut
Entries
Weedsport,
NY July 28, 2008 By Tom Skibinski , DIRTcar Racing NorthEast
PR Director
Riding the
wings of a successful debut last autumn in the Salt City, the 2008 edition
of Super DIRT Week will include DIRTcar Futures on the schedule
of events for a second straight year at the New York State Fairgrounds.
Super DIRT
Week XXXVII is scheduled for Oct. 7-12, 2008, with single day events for
first-ever SDW competitors presented in the Big-Block Modified, 358-Modified,
Sportsman Modified and Pro Stock divisions. These special events are open
to all first time racers in any of DIRTcar Racing NorthEasts four
traditional touring classes, with all features to be held the afternoon
of Thursday, Oct. 9.
Last
year was a trial run and it proved to be one of the most popular attractions
during the entire week, said DIRTcar NorthEast Director of Competition
& Track Sanctioning Cory Reed. Our goal was to help usher in
some new talent on the DIRTcar circuit and entice more first-timers to
give Syracuse a shot as its definitely a unique place that requires a
high level of skill to compete. We know a lot of teams want to run The
Mile but it can be intimidating going up against years of experience.
Having separate events takes away a lot of the pressure of having to qualify
for the championship in each class although theyre still an option
and rookie status will not be lost just by trying to make the starting
field.
In the inaugural
DIRTcar Futures features staged last year, Craig Mitchell bested a fine
array of 18 first-timers to cop the 18-lap affair for Big-Block Modifieds.
Brett Graham held off Mitchell to take top honors in the 10-lap 358-Modified
main while in the most highly contested division on the card, Kevin Ridley
out-distanced 23 racers to capture the 15-lap Sportsman Modified finale.
In the 12-lap Pro Stock nightcap that boasted 13 full-fender entries,
Nick Stone led the distance to make his first checkered flag at Syracuse
a memorable one.
For more information
about Super DIRT Week, including DIRTcar Futures sign-up, ticket order
placement, lap sponsorship and vendor space availability, please contact
DIRTcar Racing NE Headquarters during the week at 315-834-6606. Further
newsworthy items can be found at www.superdirtcarseries.com
